Email is a powerful tool to reach your audience. Any time you send an email marketing message, you should have a landing page linked to your content. If you send an email about fall specials, for example, then your landing page should direct the recipient to the specific offers or a form to claim these specials. The landing page serves as an end point your recipient “lands” on if s/he deems your content worthy and decides to follow through with what you’re offering.
A successful landing page does a few things:
- It engages your audience.
- It prompts visitors to click through to your website.
- It encourages visitors to do what you want them to do (buy or contact you) and explains why they should do it.
- It gives visitors permission for you to follow up with them by way of registration.
- It informs the recipient of something they need to know about. It provides value!
If your landing page isn’t designed to prompt a certain action or response from visitors, then it’s pointless. Continue Reading →

Our client, Maryland winery Big Cork Vineyards, wanted a holiday-inspired ad to spread word about a special discount they’re offering: free online shipping through Dec. 15. The ad currently is running in the Frederick-News Post‘s print and online editions. The goal was to feature the offer while creating an eye-catching design that lets readers know the offer is a limited-time, holiday-only special.
Lead Designer Amanda Linthicum chose a red, green and black color palette to agree with the holiday theme. She created the lightbulbs by hand in PhotoShop. The headline copy is catchy, attention-grabbing and holiday inspired. The copy explains why Big Cork’s award-winning wines are the perfect addition for any holiday meal.

Earlier this summer, Power Marketing was selected to redesign a new logo, tagline and brand identity for the Washington County Free Library (WCFL). The WCFL was in the midst of a capital building expansion that doubled the size of the central library in downtown Hagerstown. The new building just opened to the public this week, and it was our job to create a memorable brand and graphic identity to reintroduce the library system to our community.
The old logo reflected the nation’s first book wagon, which was first introduced in Washington County, Md. in 1905. It had been the centerpiece of the library brand since the early 1900s. The library is very proud of its heritage, but they wanted a more current design that reflects the realities of libraries today. Continue Reading →
After hearing proposals from several marketing firms in Maryland, the Washington County Free Library (WCFL) chose Power Marketing to transform its brand and graphic identity. We’re excited to redesign a new logo and tagline that will reintroduce the library system to the community. WCFL is currently in the midst of a capital building expansion that will double the size of the central library. Construction is expected to be completed later this year.

Brunswick Crossing eBlast for Single-Family Homes
Brunswick Crossing is an award-winning, planned community in Frederick County. The community is relatively young, but you wouldn’t guess that by looking at it. We could talk for hours about the community’s appeal — it’s a short distance from Frederick and Washington, D.C., has the kind of curb appeal that other communities in the area lack, plus there are a ton of amenities already in use (walking trails, tennis courts, community concerts, a new clubhouse under construction and much more).
Our long-time client and Brunswick Crossing builder Advantage Homes came to us seeking a builder marketing campaign to drive traffic to their single-family homes and townhomes in Brunswick Crossing and, ultimately, increase their sales. One piece of the overall campaign we proposed was an eBlast series targeting households throughout Germantown, Md., Gaithersburg, Md., and Frederick and Loudon counties. Continue Reading →
The second annual Maryland International Film Festival (MDIFF) is just a month away, so our brand strategy team put together this unique flyer to celebrate the event and encourage the public to attend. Power Marketing is a proud sponsor of the festival, which encourages independent filmmakers to engage audiences, collaborate and network with other filmmakers, and educate the community about their films. Communications Specialist Krista Scarlett wrote the copy announcing the schedule, pricing and sponsors, and Lead Designer Amanda Linthicum created the graphic design md.
If you’ll be in the Hagerstown area April 11-13, then consider attending the MDIFF. A number of local, national and international filmmakers will showcase their films and participate in Q&As. Visitors will get the chance to watch these films, talk to the filmmakers and support independent artists whose passions come to life on the big screen.
The festival’s headliner, author and former American CIA operative Tony Mendez, will be there to screen the Oscar-winning film “Argo,” directed by and starring Ben Affleck. The film is based on the true story of Mendez’ rescue of six U.S. diplomats during the 1979 Iran hostage crisis. To learn more about the festival or the films and filmmakers featured, visit www.marylandiff.com. We hope to see you there!
Tell us what you think: Does this flyer make you want to attend the MDIFF?
A new year often symbolizes down time for business, but not for us! Our power web design md and internet marketing md team has been working full steam on a number of exciting projects for our clients. Here’s a glimpse at some of the projects we’ve completed recently:
We redesigned the Thompson Services website to better reflect the propane dealer’s HVAC services. The new Maryland website design and copy reiterate that Thompson Services can take care of all of their clients’ heating and cooling needs.
Glessner Technologies came to us wanting a new brand identity logo that better reflectedtheir recent acquisitions (IT solutions/telecommunications services). The new design, created by Web Designer Trent Semler, feels more tech-savvy and includes the company’s new services.
Our graphic design MD team and communications specialist worked seamlessly to create this sponsorship brochure for Meritus Health’s “Evening of Red Wine and Dark Chocolate.” The single-page handout features details about the event’s wineglass sponsor — our client ThompsonGas and Big Cork Vineyards—and was given to patrons at the cardiac health event.
